Hotel Info
Recommended Hotels of Nitra Each and every recommended hotel is within close walking distance to both the reception and wedding location. They are also all in the heart of downtown Nitra near restaurants, banks, and tourist traps ... I mean hotspots. The area is Euro Hybrid of Hermosa Pier Avenue and 3rd Street Promenade in Santa Monica. The first two, Hotel Capital and Penzion Atrium, are our recommended choices of the bunch to choose from. For those traveling from the United States and have never been to Europe; hotel rooms are *substantially* smaller in Europe than at home so be prepared! There are no Hiltons, Ritz' (Darren!) or Marriott's to choose from, but they are all more boutiquesq and bed & breakfast like. Read below for more details!
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hotel Name: Hotel Capital
Hotel Type: Best for our family and those looking for a more traditional American hotel. It is only a few blocks from the main town center and walking distance to both the Castle and reception.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hotel Name: Penzion Atrium
Hotel Type: Best for our friends and bridal party. Think "W", but on a much, much smaller scale. It's located right in the heart of downtown Nitra and has it's own downstairs bar / resturant. The most inexpensive hotel of the bunch so it's perfect for those trying to save $10 or so a day.

City is located right next to downtown Nitra has a great view of Nitra Castle. This and Centrum are two of the newer hotels. We recommend City before Centrum, but both are relatively similar in price and are right next door to one another.

Hotel Name: Alexanders Hotel
Hotel Type: A new hotel on the pricy side of the bunch. It's located just on the other side of the main street of downtown Nitra, but a few steps closer to the Castle. Transportation
Casey & Lucia Travel and Transportation SuggestionsWe know that there is a lot going on over the next few months, but we advise you to book your hotel in Nitra as soon as possible and even more importantly, to book your flight to Europe.
Lucia and Casey's Suggestions
We usually take American Airlines flight 136 over from Los Angeles (LAX) to London Heathrow and then from London we take British Airlines to Vienna (VIE). On the way back we reverse the trip and take flight 135 from London to LAX. The flights are cheaper the earlier in the year vs later.
Our advice is to take advantage of our wedding and turn it into a European vacation. Nitra is a 2 hour drive from Vienna, Austria, 5 hour drive from Prague, Czech Republic, 2 1/2 hour drive from Budapest, Hungry and a 1 hour drive from the capital of Slovakia, the city of Bratislava.
Flight wise most of Europe is at your finger tips. With two major airports no more than two hours from the wedding in Vienna and in Bratislava, Europe is just a quick flight away!

CAR RENTALS
Slovak and most European law requires of visiting drivers an international driver's license.

Avis Europe: Slovak Republic 421 2 5341 6111
Austria Toll Free 0800-0800-8757

Auto Europe at 888-223-5555

By car, international car rental agencies still sometimes restrict travel into Slovakia, due to high rates of car theft. There is no legal restriction at the border to driving into Slovakia, and with an international driver's license you may drive your car in the country for visits of up to several weeks. TIP: Come to Slovakia by other means, and rent a car inside the country - the car therefore has Slovak license plates, and so is less of a target for potential car thieves and burglars.
TRAIN
Neither of us have any experience with the train system in Slovakia. The national rail service has a decent website with schedule information (see below), though it is best to double-check schedule information at train stations in person if possible. Where possible, choose InterCity ("IC") or EuroCity ("EC") trains, which are much more comfortable. In general, trains are more comfortable than buses.
